Experience

2001-2004 Convergys Corporation
Convergys produces billing software for the telecommunications, utilities, and financial services industries.
Product Manager, Geneva North America
When I was hired, Geneva was a very successful billing product in Europe that was nearly unheard of in North America (NA). I determined detailed requirements and priorities for new features for the Geneva billing product to allow penetration into the NA market and provided messaging surrounding those features. I communicated the capabilities and benefits of the Geneva billing product both internally to sales personnel and externally to prospective clients. I coordinated the process of funneling change candidates into a committed release plan.

1997-2000 Kenan Systems Corporation
KSC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lucent Technologies, is a software firm which produces billing and order management software for the telecommunications industry.
Functional Architect for Billing Products in the Wireline Business Unit:
I specified detailed requirements for new features for billing products by gathering information from both current and potential clients; I was a subject matter expert (SME) for project consultants and partners configuring Arbor/BP to bill for wireline services; I wrote tools using VB to assist consultants configuring Arbor/BP; and I met with potential clients and attended trade shows to communicate the benefits of KSC billing products.
Project Consultant:
I performed business analysis for purchasers of ARBOR/BP and ARBOR/OM software prior to configuration. I integrated KSC software with client business processes and I modelled the clients' products and rates within ARBOR.  Lastly, I trained client and consulting partner personnel to perform the above activities.

1995-1997 Bower, Rohr & Associates
Located in West Lebanon, NH, BRA is an economic consulting firm specializing in the utility industry. As an associate, I performed several projects including a cost study of customer loops and new services for a rural local exchange carrier. For this project I analyzed the architecture of a phone network and built comprehensive spreadsheets.

1995   Prof. David Pyke of the Amos Tuck School
I designed and implemented a computer simulation of multi-echelon inventory control problems using VB for Excel for the user interface and C for the number crunching routines.

1988-1994 MediSense, Inc.
MediSense, Inc., now a subsidiary of Abbot Labs, was a $100mm manufacturer of medical diagnostic instruments for professional and home use located in Waltham, MA, and at one time in Cambridge, MA.
Senior Design Engineer in R & D department:
Project manager of hand-held blood glucose sensor and benchtop blood cholesterol sensor.
I conducted market research and assessed technology to produce product specifications of instrument and user-interface. I recommended product modifications based on focus groups with medical professionals and end users. I designed architecture of microcontroller-based electronic instrument. I managed engineering team responsible for all design tasks including electronics, software, and mechanics necessary to release product to manufacturing.
Project Engineer in Manufacturing Department:
I supported manufacturing by designing, implementing and maintaining fully custom automated test equipment to test and calibrate medical instruments. I examined defective products to fulfill FDA requirements and improve overall reliability. I wrote software tools in BASIC to automate process of analyzing microcontroller state in returned product.
Secondary responsibility: PC and network support specialist.
I specified hardware and software, installed applications to be shared on the network, administered network, installed network printers, trained users, troubleshot user problems, and installed an intercontinental email system.

1987   Gold Hill Computers, Cambridge, MA
Assistant to product release specialist:
I maintained their database of product bugs and wrote LISP code.
